Snorkeling and Reef Viewing at Isla Verde Eco-Friendly Resort

The waters around Isla Verde contain some of the most diverse and beautiful coral reefs in the world.  The coral reefs in turn provide a haven for a wide variety of marine life and studies of the Isla Verde passage have found 1,736 overlapping marine species over a 10-kilometer area, the highest concentration of marine life in the world.
These pictures are only the shallow reef you can see if you are close to shore at the beach.  These corals are not protected at low tide and lose their colour.  When you go to the deeper water you can see lots of coloured coral.

In 2006, it was decided the discoveries were so important that President  Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo declared the Isla Verde passage as a marine sanctuary and national protected area.

The area abounds with species such as sea turtles, humphead wrasses, giant groupers and giant clams as well as the more common sea life we are familiar with.

Australian visitors compare the waters around Isla Verde to their own Great Barrier Reef, but say the difference is that in Australia, if you want to see coral in crystal clear water you usually have to travel to the outer reef where the currents are much calmer.  Around the coastal islands of the Great Barrier Reef, the currents flow fast and the water is usually murky so visibility is limited.

Stepping ashore at Isla Verde is just like stepping onto an Aussie Barrier Reef island, except for a two things.  There are friendly smiling people living here, and the water is so clear.

At Isla Verde Eco-Friendly Resort, it is only a matter of swimming a few metres from the shore and you can be floating above a coral wonderland.

Swim, snorkel or take a boat ride around the island.  Enjoy a secluded beach or wander in tropical rainforest.  Join a fishing trip with experienced local fishermen.  Just a few of the holiday experiences you can enjoy at Isla Verde Eco-Friendly Resort.  Afterwars enjoy a meal and a drink at Tess' Cafe as you watch a tropical sunset across the Verde Ialand Passage.
