July is 'Habagat' season in Isla Verde - by Nanay Jo

In the Philippines 'Amihan' is the dry season.  In that time usually from late September until June the resort is mostly cooled by the northeast breezes.  It does not rain much at all and this is the ideal time for lazy boat trips around the island, and for relaxing walks on the Isla or snorkeling on the reef.

In June starts 'Habagat'.  This is our rainy season, but works on the resort at isla are still gojng on.  As we have habagat, the wind now blows from the west and there are more hig waves that bump into our seawall.  I remember, Bugoy, asking me , to go with him, to watch those splashes of waves breaking against the wall.

More stone walks are being built around the resort.  The pathway which is made of rocks and pebbles makes it pleasant for the visitors to walk.  Children can run easily through the pathways, too.

Now lights are on in the cafe.  We dont have darkness at nite, even when there is no power in isla.  Luckily, we have solar panel which provides us light.  We can play music, while working and listen to our favorite afternoon drama in one of radio station MOR.

And when visitors come during habagat, we can offer some indoors games like chess, scrabble and the filipino game called sungka.

One thing the Philippines has that is different from many countries is warm rain.  Even in the wet season when we have a rain storm, we do not sit shivering from the cold.  The rain is pleasant and even if you get wet, it can be fun sitting, listening to the rain and watching the plants so green and inviting while we wait for the sunshine.
